オーストラリア滞在記⑦

2019.08.30

Hello, everyone! I’m Honoka Endoh.

Term 3 started from the middle of last month… It’s still not easy for me but it’s better than last term!

Some new international students came to my school and I’m studying hard with a fresh mind.

Anyway, this time I’ll talk about my school holidays.

I had my first school holidays here, which went for two weeks. I went out with my host family and with friends.

I was able to spend a very good time away from a lot of study!

<My friend’s farewell party>

My German friend was returning to Germany, so we held a farewell party for her.

To begin with, we gathered at my friend’s house and ate snacks together, before going to the city.

This is a photo which we took at the city. We had a lot of fun.

We watched a movie and went to an escape room () as well.

It was a little bit busy with all these activities, but I had good time with everyone.

<Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary>

I went to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with my friend.

This sanctuary is a little bit different from a zoo but there are a lot of Australian animals there.

Like for example, koalas, kangaroos, dingoes and Tasmanian devils are just to name a few!

There are a lot of koalas in particular. (We can imagine this from the sanctuary’s name, though.)

Koalas are so cute. I thought koalas don’t move that much but some koalas are very lively.

I saw a koala jumping from one tree to another and fighting each other as well.

Also, I learnt something I didn’t know before. In Australia, they sometimes call kangaroos “roo”!

Did you know that? There is probably other things like that. I wanna find out about other shortened terms as well!

<Making Japanese food with my friends>

I invited my friends over and we ate Japanese rice cake, karaage and miso soup together.

I have a friend who takes Japanese class and likes Japanese foods. I invited her and another friend to make Japanese food together.

We talked a lot, played some games and ate Japanese food. This day was really fun for me.

Next time, I wanna make other Japanese food with them.

It was a good opportunity for me to tell them about Japan and I hope they learned more about Japan from me.

<Going out with my host family>

I went to Raby Bay and ate lunch with my host family.

My host mother has a friend who has a Japanese international student and is the same age with me.

I was able to learn about another Australian school. If there is another chance, I will ask about the other Australian school again and compare them.

In the restaurant and we ate “fish and chips”. It is a very popular dish in Australia.

In Australia, they call fried potatoes “chips” so, the dish was fried fish and potatoes.

You can find this dish almost anywhere in Australia.

Besides what I mentioned above; I experienced a lot of things.

I met with Yoshie, who came here with me and learns in Mitchelton!

We can’t meet that often but we want to meet occasionally so we can encourage each other.

Not all my experiences are good, but I want to enjoy everything and turn them into good opportunities.

Thank you very much for reading through to the end. See you next month!
