オーストラリア滞在記⑪

2019.12.02

Hello everyone!
I’m Yoshie Aoki.

Term 4 finishes soon. We have only 8 weeks in term 4.
On Friday in week 6, there was a graduation ceremony for year 12.
The students who took Hospitality class made food and gave them out to year 12 students and their families. I was helping them as an assistant.
In the morning we made sandwiches, meatballs and so on. We could have the sandwiches as lunch.
In the afternoon we served them on plates. The hospitality teacher was strict about it, and we arranged many times…
In the evening many year 12 students’ families arrived at the school, and we gave out the food and drinks to them. The foods and drinks were heavy and I had muscle pain on my arm the next day.
Few minutes later after that the ceremony started. I could see the ceremony. Year 12 students were wearing gorgeous dresses and so beautiful.
When the teacher called the students’ name, they walked the middle of the hall from the arch.
Some students went through in pairs.

One of my friends was in year 12, so I was happy to see her graduation.

After the ceremony we gave out cakes. While I was doing that, I met the friend, and took pictures with her. When I thought this is the last time that I see her in the school, I felt sad…  but on the next day I went out to eat Shabushabu with her and the other friend.

This was the first time to hang out with her, and we had a good time!

By the way, we had a party called social instead of semi formal in 28th of November. The teachers considered year 11’s behaviour was not good this year, and they canceled semi formal…

Last year’s year 11 had a semi formal in a place which looked gorgeous and food was provided, but in the social we had to bring food by ourselves, and we did in library! Everyone was disappointed, and only 24 people came to the social.

The teacher said we can wear jeans and T shirts, but most of people had already bought dresses that was supposed to be for semi formal. So some people wore dresses and others wore casual dresses. I borrowed my friend’s casual dress.

Though I was disappointed too and didn’t want to go to social, after my friend did makeup for me, I felt excited!

In social we did some games such as musical chairs and music statue. Musical chairs is the game that we walk around chairs that is less than the number of people during the music, and when the music stops, we sit down. But one person can’t sit down and is eliminated. The rule of music statue is we dance while the music is playing and to freeze like a statue when the music stops. The games were more fun than I thought, and I laughed a lot.

We also watched photos of the camp that we went in June. I felt time fly so fast.

Unfortunately I couldn’t stay until the end. When I left the social, I felt a lit bit sad because I can’t see them until about 2 months later because they had an excursion the next day, and from the next day the holiday started, and they are going back to their countries. But I’m looking forward to seeing them after the holiday!

Thank you for reading at the end. See you next month!
